I didn't dislike this musical, and the music and production were certainly part of its strong points. I'm just left with a lot of "meh" feelings about the book and the story. Relied pretty heavily on tropes. Also the ending with the boss being like, murdered (?) by essentially a racist portrayal of nameless "savage natives" was totally unnecessary. It's a small moment at the very end of the show, but is one of the things that has stuck with me most, and lowered my overall opinion of the piece because of it.
