"The story is a fictionalized version of the life of Annie Oakley (1860–1926), a sharpshooter who starred in Buffalo Bill's Wild West, and her romance with sharpshooter Frank E. Butler (1847–1926)." (Wikipedia)
Another dated musical, but it was better than I was expecting at least. I listened to the Bernadette Peters version which probably helps it a good deal. I'd argue that the way they wrote the characters of Annie and Frank was quite clever (for the time) since the romance, while riding the line of falling in love too quickly, stays just believable enough to carry the story all the way. (Or maybe these musicals are just wearing me down and lowering my expectations)! The music is artfully composed; There's No Business Like Show Business, Moonshine Lullaby and Anything You Can Do are stand out examples.
